Arif Arman Badol was a student of the University of Liberal Arts Bangladesh (ULAB) from the media studies and journalism department. In his university life, he was involved with different co-curricular activities. One of them was "CinemaScope".
It's a film-oriented organization where people, who are much enthusiastic about the creation and aesthetics of film production. On ULAB this program is called the Film Apprenticeship Program, and is boldly known as “CinemaScope”. However, this is basically a platform for those who want to practice advanced elements of film production. With the aim of watching, reading, analyzing, and making films, a group of students enroll in ULAB Film Apprenticeship Program - CinemaScope. The program is monitored by the Department of Media Studies and Journalism. CinemaScope arranges regular events like Film Reading, Master Class, Study Circle, Seminar, Workshops, Meet the Director, etc.
Besides, CinemaScope's mouthpiece “Cinepedia”, a Cine-magazine, comes out once in every academic semester. It presents the various topics of cinema. It is the only second cine magazine of Bangladesh.
They also arrange an international film festival called 'Dhaka International Mobile Film Festival' (DIMMF). From the view of filmmaking, budget is one main obstacle for our young filmmakers. But nowadays every young people use a smartphone with great camera facilities. Last year's festival has 116 submissions from 36 countries from all around the world. The jury board comprised of Bidhan Rebeiro, Motin Rahman, and Proshun Rahman primarily selected Twelve films in the competition category, while 30 films were in the primary selection in the screening category. From these, the lists were further narrowed down and shortlisted 8 films for the final competition and 20 films for screening. Their main goal is anyone can make a film in a low cost and easily tell their story. This year (DIMMF) committee create a new category for school, college students which is the 'One-minute category'.
Recently CinemaScope started a new platform for school, college students named "CineSchool" by using the online platform YouTube. Here anyone can learn about anything about basic knowledge of film making. To promote the one-minute film category is a great initiative for nine to twelve stander students. Last year he and his team "Cinepoka" participated in a competition named "Impacts and Changes in the community", presented by Wateraid and funded by HSBC bank. It's a documentary film project and they won the prize money of one lakh. It was premiered on ULAB and also different places of WaterAid.

Arif Arman Badol started his journey on 'CinemaScope' as a general member. He was born in Satkhira district, Bangladesh. He has always been a book lover. His knowledge of the outer world developed through the books in the local library. He and his friends were forbidden to go to the cinema halls because of the poor quality of films. He and his friends resisted the obstacle and created a film society of their own and watched films by Tareq Masud and other popular filmmakers. After passing his higher secondary school, he set for Dhaka and took admission in the (ULAB). Joining CinemaScope he has taken part in a number of workshops, film reading sessions, and research and publication. Among his favorite filmmakers are Ritwik Kumar Ghatak, Satyajit Ray, Abbas Kiarostami, Wong Kar-Wai, etc. He was the research and publication head of CinemaScope for a long time.
